5 ways to stay motivated

When it comes to the world of work, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and lose motivation. Motivation is important because it allows us to develop competencies, be creative, grow interests and change behaviour. But what if you cannot find any motivation to keep up with daily tasks? All motivation is within us and the key to maintaining it is balance.

  1. Define your goal and create a plan:

Defining your goal will help you understand what exactly your aim is, then when you have a plan in place it creates a structure for your goal. To avoid becoming overwhelmed the best thing to do is set short-term goals that will help you reach the final one. Achieving small goals will spur you along to your longer-term goals as well.

  1. Use to-do-lists

This is a strategy that will help you stay organised and on top of things that way tasks are more manageable. When you stay on top and ahead you know exactly what you are doing and are now able to plan tasks ahead. Having a list of things to do will make you feel more responsible and more motivated because as you cross things off your list you will feel more rewarded and a step closer to your goal.

  1. Try new approaches and techniques

It is important to remember that we are all unique therefore everyone will be motivated by different things. Understanding what motivates you can make a big difference between success and failure. So, if your strategy for staying motivated is not working it may be worth trying A different approach might give you a new perspective and more energy.

  1. Create a competitive environment

Although comparing yourself to others and focusing on others never usually benefits you. In some scenarios creating yourself some competition may keep you focused on your goal a lot more, Competitive environments fuel creativity and productivity, generating a higher quality of work. When someone wants to win, they are more likely to look at a variety of solutions to any problem. They push boundaries and experiment with solutions.

  1. Reward yourself

When has a reward ever made you feel sad or low? Probably NEVER! When you reward yourself, your brain elicits positive emotions, leading to the realization that your efforts result in a positive reward. It will keep the positivity flowing, and help you stay motivated to keep working hard.

 

Overall, the point is that there are many ways that you can help yourself become motivated, but the key to increased motivation is task balance and understanding ourselves fully because we are all motivated by different things.
